About the job/ about the hospital

We are looking for a Clinical Fellow in Medicine for a variety of medical specialties. Examples of specialties to which successful candidates rotate include Care of Elderly. There are opportunities in a wide range of specialties including: pediatrics, radiology, emergency medicine, psychiatry.

Examples of specialties to which successful candidates rotate include Care of Elderly Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Cardiology and Haemotology. In each placement, Clinical Fellows are supported in their work by Consultants, Specialty Registrars, other CT1-2 level doctors and Foundation Year doctors.

Responsibilities:

Managing adult patients in a variety of specialties presenting in different ways. Candidates will work primarily on one ward at any time and are expected to provide daily review of the patients on the ward.

Clinical fellows are expected to help supervise junior doctors on their wards such as those in Foundation Years one and Two.The post-holderwill participate in the general medical on call rota full shift system. This involves working evenings, at weekends and overnight supported by the Hospital Night Service.

As a clinical fellow you will have a variety of duties when on-call including clerking new patients, reviewing patients on medical wards and attending cardiac arrests as part of the crash team. Therefore it is essential that candidates have or aim to get advanced Life support certificates.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 year of work experience full time or equivalent part time hospital service post qualification.
  • A degree in Medicine
  • Good command of the English language (B2 Level);
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • You are interested in other cultures and are flexible to easily adapt to different environments.
  • GMC registration
  • That applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English: OR have the academic International English language testing System (IELTS)- Overall 7.5, Speaking 7, Listening 7, Reading 7, Writing 7.
